Chilly little penguin Graphgan square

Cute penguin Graphgan

This project is worked in rows. It is the first square in a year-long project. It's a calendar blanket so there will be 12 squares and each square will be about 12"X12" once there is a border. I am excited to get the project started. The first one is a penguin, I don't want to give away the other months. I'd like for them to be a surprise. Each month will upload the graph for the square. Each square of the blanket is single crocheted and there are 40 single crochets across by 40 rows.

Let's talk about the details for the penguin project. There are two major changes I am making from the colors on the graph. The background color is a light tan color and where you see the pink on the hat those will be white. I had to choose a color to represent the white so it would make sense on the graph. Of course, the white on the belly and face will also be white. Starting on row 29 everywhere you see W it is supposed to be MW for the metallic white. That is for the brim and ball on the hat.

Items needed

Row counter

Darning/yarn needle with a large eye

Scissors

All yarn I used is red heart super saver acrylic yarn in a size 4 medium worsted weight yarn

It is a yarn scrap project, so you won’t need a lot of the colors.

Bg = Background color/Aran (light tan)

W = White regular white for the tummy and face

B = Black

O +orange/Pumpkin

MW = Metallic white for the brim of the hat and the ball hanging from the hat

R = Metallic red for the scarf and upper portion of the hat

Stitch chart

Ch = Chain

Sc = Single crochet

At the beginning of each row, Sc in the same stitch as ch 1. You will have 40 Sc at the end of each row.
